Overruling two important precedents about the First Amendment rights of corporations, a bitterly divided Supreme court ruled that the government may not ban political spending by corporations in candidate elections.Though the decision does not directly address them, it also applies to the labor unions that are often at political odds with big business. This ruling represents a sharp shift, and it will have major political and practical consequences. Specialists in campaign finance law said they expected the decision to reshape the way elections were conducted. The Supreme decided the case in a 5 to 4 ruling, saying that corporate spending cannot have a limit placed on it.
I think that there should be a limit on how much a business can spend at one time. This would help businesses to keep some of their money in case so they will not go bankrupt and if everybody gets fired, then there would be nothing to save the company.

A while ago, a 1950 case called Johnson vs. Eisentrager, the Supreme Court ruled that captured enemy soldiers, who were not citizens of the United States, could not challenge their detention in American courts.The Court ruled that foreign enemies have no more rights than Americans do. They reasoned that American citizens conscripted into the military service are thereby stripped of their Fifth Amendment rights.
I do not think that anyone who is detained as a enemy combatant should just have the court give him a punishment without first giving him a trial, even if they are not from this country. They should have the rights that everyone else in the U.S has.

Judge says Feds violated 10th Amendment by subverting state marijuana laws
Article 2, section 3: The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
An example of the federal authorities violations of the 10th Amendment was their pursuit of WAMM. This non-profit group has been around for many years, and has been fully supported by the city and county of Santa Cruz. They have been referred to, by officials, as the model medical marijuana patient's collective. When the ACLU filed this lawsuit to stop them from targeting medical marijuana providers and patients, they opened a door that may finally lead to no federal interference in California's medical marijuana law.
I think that it is ok for the FBI to do this and should not be a violation of the 10th amendment laws. It should be checked out because they might be selling it for other purposes than for medicine. It might be sold for personal purposes, which is against the states laws.

New 'Internet Consorship' Bill Rushed Through Congress

There is a bill going through congress right now called "The Protecting Cyberspace Act". This bill is intended to prevent a cyber 9/11 in which computer hackers take aim at important American infrastructures that mainly use the internet. Some of these targets are nuclear power plants, banks, and pentagon computer networks. Most computer hackers are Chinese. many also believe that the Chinese government organises the hacks on the U.S computer network.
I think that this bill is necessary because computer hackers can disable U.S defence systems and put viruses on many sites. Not so long ago, there was a massive Chinese computer hack on Google that caused the security on the sight to crash. After cyber attacks, most websites tighten there security and may block out users from the country, state, or city that they think have attacked the sight.

There is a law that Hillary Clinton and Joseph Lieberman are trying to pass that say M rated, adult rated, violent, and sexually explicit games can not be sold to anyone under the age of 18. The bill also says that if you are caught buying M and Adult rated games for anyone under 17 will have to do 100 hours of community service, pay a fine, or have to do both depending on how many times this has happened. There will also be higher taxes on all games that are rated M and Adult.The ESRB and the ESA plan to testify against this bill if it passes.
I do not like or agree with this bill because over two thirds of games that come out have this rating. I also do not like this because most of my games are rated M because of violence. The higher taxes will also keep a lot of games from being sold since most cost $50 and up when you go to buy them.

The current Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, doesn't believe that freedom of speech should extend to members of the minority party in our House of Representatives. On July 13, 2009, Democrats voted to shut down the U.S. House Representatives rather than allow a handful of Republican Congressmen to speak on the floor.Only the republicans are not able to speak, while democrats can speak as much as they want.
I do not agree with this because if they are going to let one side talk, they should let the other side talk to. this also violates freedom of speech in the Constitution. This is saying that only published documents are to be protected by this right. The first Amendment does not give the right to the public to know anything, not even what the government is doing.In schools, the teachers have the right to censor whatever they want. The news also has the right to censor what they want to.

1st Amendment

The mosque that is being built in New York is an example of freedom of religion. Recentely in New York, a few teenagers fired into a croud of muslims that were praying. Many people do not want the mosque to be built so close to ground zero because they think that the muslims will try to do it again. The muslims have the right to build a mosque anywhere they want because the constution gives them freedom of religion.

The law was taken to the supreme court by a citizen of the city. Mayor Daley then made it a law that to get a gun, you must get a gun license, take practice at the firing range, and then wait 30 days before you can own a gun.
There will be restrictions for felons and the mentally insane on gun possession. the rights of the second amendment do not protect all people, it does not say that you can have a gun shop because that is not considered to be self defense. In Chicago, no one can own a gun show. There can only be one loaded gun per household, the rest have to be unloaded.
